Below are the different topics that we cover in each of our courses, this will give you an idea as to what level you need to start at in your learning with Phoenix Languages.

Level 1 - Basics / Building Blocks

This may include subjects such as:

How to spell in the foreign language
Masculine / feminine
No's 1-100
Ordering in a restaurant
Introducing yourself and asking questions of others
Learning the main essential verbs such as to have, to be and other basic families of verbs
Buying items (mainly food) from a shop
Talking about family
Telling the time (clocks and times of day)
Talking about where you live and describing places
You will finish by creating your own Question / Answer sheet which will enable you to carry out a five / ten minute
conversation with any foreign person that you meet.

Level 2 - Visiting the foreign country

This may include subjects such as:

Going places and Learning to ask for and understand directions
Learning directions (getting places) and especially how to listen out for them
Ordering train / plane tickets and requesting information
Increasing your use of more complex verbs in order to give your opinions such as (want, can and must), this will help you in trains / plane travel and hotel usage.
Reserving hotel rooms and communicating any problems
Forming the past tense

Business Topics that can be added include:

Welcoming foreign clients to your office
Communicating with foreign clients about your business
Making telephone calls

Level 3 and Beyond - Becoming more proficient in the language

Level 3 allows more freedom for topic based learning where the teacher will help you increase your conversational and listening abilities whilst still improving your grammatical understanding and adding to your knowledge in practical situations such as doctors, talking about the weather
